Elena Gigli, In hoc signo vinces, graphics design, September 2019
One afternoon I went to Antonino's
taking pictures for his book.
I casually brought some papers
back printed with a frame
of an animation
that I had drawn
of a Viennese straw texture.
Inspired by the cross I had drawn,
he told me about the battle of Constantine,
in which it is said that
the appearance in the sky of the writing
In hoc signo vinces , with a literal meaning:
"in (below) this sign you will win"
next to a cross
was one of the warning signs
of his victory.

So he inspired me for this graphic
which we then framed
in two variants,
one for him and one for me
and then to draw this
dressed in linen and silk,
worked in top / down
with a central cross
which defines its line.
